Your Impact for East Bay Regional Parks

In 2025, the Regional Parks Foundation invested more than $2.3 million in East Bay Regional Parks. Here are just a few highlights made possible by your support:

  • 31,700+ park visitors received bus transportation to community programs
  • 36,000+ people reached through community engagement opportunities
  • 14% increase in Trails Challenge finishers, with ~29,000 miles logged!

These numbers speak to a year of expanded programming and increased access, including transportation, youth education, and inclusive community programs.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to ensuring East Bay Regional Parks are accessible, welcoming, and resilient for generations to come. Your continued support makes this work possible, and we are deeply grateful to have you alongside us.

Youth Development

The Foundation is committed to ensuring more young people can learn from and enjoy life-changing experiences in the parks. Through hands-on science education and outdoor skills, we inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.

Our youth programs give local students the chance to learn about the environment and connect with nature in their own neighborhoods, helping them become the park stewards of tomorrow.

In 2025:

  • 1,300+ 5th and 6th grade students and teachers participated in three-day/two-night environmental education experience at WOLF School Camp Arroyo
  • 128 children attended summer and Adventure Camps
  • 10 North Richmond youth trained as Watershed Restoration Apprentices

Health, Wellness & Safety

Spending time in nature boosts both our mental and physical well-being. The Regional Parks Foundation supports healthier communities by helping people get outdoors and stay active. We provide everything from water safety programs and trail gear to rescue equipment, giving park visitors and staff the tools and confidence they need to safely enjoy our parks and recreational spaces.

In 2025:

  • 8,175 students certified in CPR, First Aid, and Hands-Only CPR
  • 9,169 students received aquatic safety and workforce training
  • 600 people participated in Parks Prescription Program

Environmental Stewardship

As extreme weather events and industrial activities continue to shape our world, the Foundation works to protect habitats and wildlife so they can not only survive but thrive. We invest in and support community engagement, education, and stewardship efforts to keep natural habitats and surrounding communities safe and accessible for all.

In 2025:

  • 667-acre Fuels Reduction Project completed in East Bay Hills
  • 10X increase in wintering of western snowy plovers thanks to ongoing nesting site enhancements at Crown Beach

Universal Access

At the Foundation, we believe parks must be accessible to everyone. Our goal is to remove barriers and create a welcoming space for all by supporting programs that reach historically underserved communities and reflect the East Bay’s rich diversity.

We provide transportation for school groups and translation services for park programs. We also offer activities for youth and adults with disabilities, collaborate with local libraries on the Backpacks to Parks initiative, and provide scholarships and free memberships to those in need. These efforts help make park visits more affordable and offer meaningful experiences that create lasting connections.

In 2025:

  • 31,777 park visitors received bus transportation to community programs
  • 86% increase in All Abilities Day participants (1,270 in 2024 ➡ 2,358 in 2025)
  • 114 low-income participants enrolled in 234 weeks of aquatic and summer camps

Community Engagement

Show your love for the parks through one of the Foundation’s many community engagement opportunities. Partner with us to keep parks accessible for all and to protect wildlife and open space for generations to come. We can’t do it without you!
