With only three days left to pass a bill, we believe the votes are there to pass AB 2444 in the State Senate. This is the last step before we urge the Governor to support this much needed investment in our state and local parks. AB2444 has broad support and, if brought to the floor, is likely to succeed.

It has been fourteen years since the passage of a "true park bond." AB 2444 establishes a framework and directs over $3 billion to infuse much needed financial resources into neighborhood, regional and state parks throughout California. It is our strong hope to pass AB 2444 this year and have it placed on an upcoming ballot.
As California recovers from the recession, there is an urgent need to fix, repair and maintain the infrastructure state and local agencies currently operate. Nowhere is that more profound than in park and open space agencies across California which are experiencing daunting backlogs of major maintenance projects that add up to billions of dollars. A recent statewide survey estimates the unfunded need for local and regional parks tops out at over $5 billion over the next several years.
A park bond will enable our communities to move forward with restoration and infrastructure efforts within your parks here in the East San Francisco Bay Area and throughout California.
