More about the Trails Challenge

Thousands of people like you have participated in the past twenty two years - nearly 10,000 every year!  This program is a great opportunity to improve your health, body, and mind while getting in touch with nature.  Trails Challenge is designed for all ages, and all types and levels of trail users.  The guidebook contains 20 trail routes, each in a different Regional Park/Trail throughout the East Bay Regional Park District.  The booklet includes maps with detailed directions, special interest highlights, safety information, guided hikes & events, and more!

There are two ways to complete the Challenge: 1) Travel 5 of the 20 trails listed in the booklet, or 2) Travel 26.2 miles of trails featured in the guidebook. Once completed, fill out the Trail Log and program evaluation to receive your commemorative pin (while supplies last).  We use the honor system for verification, and non-Trails Challenge trails are okay to use to complete the Challenge.

Upon completion of the registration process, participants will be able to download the Trails Challenge e-Guidebook and pick-up a free organic T-Shirt (while supplies last). A commemorative pin will be sent after completion of the Challenge (pins are mailed in December). Can't pick up your shirt or you would like a hard copy of the booklet? Visit the E-Store to have the items mailed.

Still "Green"
In the interest of the environment, the East Bay Regional Park District, Kaiser Permanente, and the Regional Parks Foundation are encouraging participants to save paper and use a downloadable version of the guidebook to print only what is needed.  Hard copies are available for a small fee; please visit the E-Store for details.

Sponsors
Kaiser Permanente is a major sponsor of this program, enabling us to offer the program materials for free.  This is Kaiser Permanente's 10th year of sponsorship for the Trails Challenge program. The East Bay Regional Park District, Kaiser Permanente, and the Regional Parks Foundation all share the common mission to make active lifestyles and the outdoors accessible to all. Kaiser Permanente employees can register here.
